Edith Quarry (1894-98)

Edith Maud Quarry appeared with four D'Oyly Carte touring companies between 1894 and 1898. Her first stint was as a chorister with Carte's American Utopia Limited Company, in New York and Boston between March and June 1894. Essentially a mezzo-soprano chorister and understudy, she took small roles with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "A" (Saleta in Utopia Limited, July-December 1894) and Company "D" (Martha in The Grand Duke, March-November 1896). She also filled on occasion as Kalyba in Utopia (Company "A," October 1894), as Lisa in The Grand Duke (Company "D," August 1896) and as the Lady Angela in Patience and Phoebe Meryll in The Yeomen of the Guard (both Company "C," September 1898).
Edith Quarry's younger sister Ethel appeared with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company at the Savoy from 1900 to 1903.
