Isabel Reddick (1893-94)

[Born London, 14 Mar 1865, died Johannesburg, South Africa 30 Dec 1938]

Soprano Isabel Rayner studied singing in Milan and Paris, and had a short career as a concert singer, before taking the stage name Isabel Reddick and joining D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D" on tour in Haddon Hall and The Vicar of Bray in 1893. She may have appeared as Winifred in The Vicar of Bray at some point in the year. Starting on December 26, 1893, Company "D" presented Utopia Limited exclusively with Miss Reddick as Princess Zara. She then sang Zara in New York and Boston with Carte's American Utopia Company (March-June 1894), before returning to Company "D" as Zara later in June. Company "D" added The Vicar of Bray to its tour again in November 1894, with Miss Reddick appearing as Winifred. She left the D'Oyly Carte organization on December 15, 1894.

Miss Reddick next appeared with a George Edwardes company in the musical An Artist's Model, then traveled to South Africa, her stage career ending in marriage in 1896.
