[Born Bury St. Edmunds 1 Sep 1870, died Leicester 22 Jan 1960]
Maude Richardson, real name Edith Maud Richardson, traveled to Italy as a teenager where she received her vocal training. She was a chorister and small part player with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D" in the 1890s. When the Company toured The Vicar of Bray and Haddon Hall from December 1892 to December 1893 she appeared in the small role of Deborah in Haddon Hall. She also filled in on at least one occasion for Esme Lee as Dorothy Vernon in Haddon Hall and on another as Winifred in The Vicar of Bray. From December 1893 to December 1894 Company "D" presented Utopia Limited with Miss Richardson in the equally small part of Melene. These were her only named parts though she may have remained with the Carte organization as a chorister for a few years thereafter.
After leaving the Company she returned to Bury where she continued to perform from time to time both professionally and as an amateur in theatre, oratorio, and concert work, while teaching dancing.
