THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
Carl Risson (1887)
[Born Goole, Yorkshire c.1862, died Poplar, London 18 Jun 1912]
Carl Risson, born William Harrison, made his first recorded appearance on the London Stage as an Officer in Frederic Clay's opera Don Quixote at the Alhambra Theatre, September-November 1876.
In what appears to have been his only D'Oyly Carte engagement, he was one of the ghostly ancestors in Ruddigore on tour in the British provinces with Mr. D'Oyly Carte's "B" Company from April to December 1887.
Risson later appeared in London as Sergeant Vadeboncoeur in Planquette's Captain Therese at the Criterion in May 1893, and as Nonever in the operatic extravaganza Atlantis at the Opera Comique in June of that year. Both appearances were in single matinee performances.
