[Born Brixton 1871, died Epsom 23 Mar 1909]
Alex (or Alec) Romer, real name Alexander Woodman, appeared on tour with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "B" as Nicodemus Knock-knee in Haddon Hall (November-December 1892), was a chorister with Carte's Company "C" in 1893, and appeared with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D" as John Dory in The Vicar of Bray (December 1898-February 1899), and as Major Domo in The Lucky Star (February-September 1899).
A Mr. Romer, possibly Alex, was a chorister in London in Paul Rubens' "comedy with music" Mr. Popple (Apollo, 1905-06). Alex Romer was reportedly married to D'Oyly Carte soprano Margaret Radcliffe. He was just 38 years of age when he died in 1909.
