Tenor Herbert Roy Roser appeared as a singer at London's His Majesty's Theatre, beginning in April 1949, in the chorus of Lerner & Loewe's Brigadoon. He left before the run ended, joining the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus in April 1950. During the August 1950-August 1951 season, Roser shared the part of First Citizen in The Yeomen of the Guard with Brian Crossley. He left the D'Oyly Carte when the season ended.
