Hugh Rowlands was a bass-baritone chorister with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company from January 1933 to July 1940 and from December 1940 to December 1947. Over the years he appeared from time to time as Second Yeoman in The Yeomen of the Guard (1933-34, 1937-38, 1939-40, 1943-47), and less often as Go-To in The Mikado (1933-34 and 1937-38).
