THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
(Miss) M. Russsell (1886-92)
Miss M. Russell was a D'Oyly Carte chorister at the Savoy from some point during the initial run of The Mikado (probably 1886) though the original performance of The Nautch Girl (June 1891-January 1892). Her only named parts at the Savoy were Ruth in Ruddigore (on occasion, March and November 1887) and Nixon, a parlormaid, in Mrs. Jarramie's Genie, a one-act companion piece performed for much of 1888-89.
She may have been Maud Russell who gave five performances as Priscilla Precious in the comic opera Peterkin at London's Royalty Theatre in September 1893.
