Miss A. Watts as Fiametta in The Gondoliers

(Miss) A. Watts (1888-90)

Miss Watts was a soprano chorister and small part player who made her first brief appearance in a named part with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "C" in November 1888 as Kate in the first provincial production of The Yeomen of the Guard.

In January 1890 she was in New York as Fiametta in Carte's ill-starred Park Theatre production of The Gondoliers. When the opera was recast and restaged at Palmer's Theatre in February she was one of the few principals to survive, but as Giulia. She reclaimed Fiametta in March, and contined in that role when the Company returned to the British Isles as the "American Company," now Carte's Company "D" from May to July 1890. Nothing is known of her career after that.
