Kevin West (1975-79)
Baritone Kevin West appeared in amateur operatic societies around London and trained at the London College of Music before joining the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in September 1975. At the time he was known as Michael Westbury, but soon adopted Kevin West as his stage name. He served with the Company for the four seasons as a chorister and understudy, going on on occasion as Major General Stanley in The Pirates of Penzance (1975-76, 1977-79), Scynthius in Princess Ida (1977-78), and Strephon in Iolanthe (1978-79). West left the D'Oyly Carte in September 1979.
Among his subsequent engagements in grand opera was an appearance in Cosi Fan Tutte with Chiltern Opera in the autumn of 1987.
