John Henry Wills' only role with the D'Oyly Carte organization was Don Alhambra in The Gondoliers on tour with the D'Oyly Opera Principal Repertory Opera Company in March 1907, filling in for Fred Billington. Presumably a chorister and understudy, he was married to former D'Oyly Carte soprano Flora Macdonald.

After leaving the D'Oyly Carte Wills toured for a time as a concert artist with another ex-D'Oyly Carter--soprano Bessie Mackenzie.
