Pauline Wootten (1925-29)
Pauline Wootten appeared in small roles with the D'Oyly Carte "New" Opera Company from September 1925 until the "New" Company disbanded in June 1927. She played Leila in Iolanthe (1925-26), Ruth in Ruddigore (1925-27), Kate in The Pirates of Penzance, Lady Saphir in Patience, and Vittoria in The Gondoliers (all 1926-27), and also filled in briefly during her first season as Lady Angela in Patience and Iolanthe in Iolanthe.
When the "New" Company closed Miss Wootten transferred to the main (Repertory) company, where she served for two more years (June 1927-June 1929). Her roles were Kate (June 1927), Isabel (1927-28), and Edith (1928-29) in Pirates; Saphir (1927-29) and Angela (on occasion 1927-28) in Patience; Leila (June 1927, 1928-29, and on occasion 1927-28) and Fleta (1927-28, shared with Dorothy Gates) in Iolanthe; Chloe in Princess Ida (1927-28, shared with Beatrice Elburn); Pitti-Sing in The Mikado (1928-29, on occasion the previous season); Ruth in Ruddigore (June 1927, 1928-29); and Vittoria (June 1927, 1928-29), Giulia (1927-28), and Tessa (on occasion 1927-28) in Gondoliers.
Miss Wootten was married to D'Oyly Carte chorister Harry Hambleton.
