Dorothy Yeowart (1946-51)

Dorothy Yeowart joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus in July 1946, remaining with the Company until August 1951. During her last two seasons with the Company (August 1949-August 1951), she understudied leading contralto parts and went on on occasion as Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance, Katisha in The Mikado, and Dame Carruthers in The Yeomen of the Guard (all 1949-50), and Little Buttercup in H.M.S. Pinafore, Dame Hannah in Ruddigore, and Inez in The Gondoliers (1947-48 and 1950-51).
After leaving the D'Oyly Carte, Miss Yeowart served for a time in the chorus at Covent Garden Opera.
