No. 7 - Song - Rodney - "Gretna Green."

MIDI File

Rodney: Miss Prudence who waits
In her drawing-room prim
with her aunt and Mamma close by,
For love and for laughter her chances are slim;
She may go to the deuce, say I;
But give me the damsel who tries not to cheat you,
Who gives you her heart a prize,
Who climbs down the vines of the window to meet you,
And kiss you with love in her eyes.
Then it's Hey, for my sort of a girl,
Her love is worth more than a million.
Out with you, dear, when the skies are clear,
And I'll carry you off on a pillion.
Up, up, up, and away,
Spurs to the nag, a kiss for my Queen.
After us dad will come riding like mad,
Then Hurrah for a galop to Gretna Green.

  I hate the prim jade who despises a kiss,
'Tis a pleasure she ne'er has known.
Of course, what she's never had she cannot miss,
I will let such a girl alone.
But give me the damsel with eyes that confess all,
Who never a kiss denies,
Who tells you enough so you easily guess all,
Who tells you her love with her eyes.
Then it's Hey, for my sort of a girl,
Her love is worth more than a million.
Out with you, dear, when the skies are clear,
And I'll carry you off on a pillion.
Up, up, up, and away,
Spurs to the nag, a kiss for my Queen.
After us dad will come riding like mad,
Then Hurrah for a galop to Gretna Green, to Gretna Green.
