Contralto Linda D'Arcy had studied singing in her native Liverpool, and performed in cabaret, before joining theD'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus on tour in August 1976. She was known as Linda Brindley at the time but a year later she was going by Linda D'Arcy.She remained in the chorus until April 1979, appearing occasionally as Fleta in Iolanthe during her last season. After leaving the D'Oyly Carte, Miss D'Arcy later appeared in the original London cast of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd (Drury Lane, July-November 1980).
