Hilary Davies (1923-27)

Hilary May Davies joined the D'Oyly Carte Repertory Opera Company as a chorister in January 1923. From July 1923 until her career with the Company ended in October 1928 she played the small roles of Isabel in The Pirates of Penzance and Zorah in Ruddigore. She also played Celia in Iolanthe (1924-26) and Giulia in The Gondoliers (1926-28) for portions of her tenure.
Miss Davies married fellow D'Oyly Carte chorister and small part player Ronald Stear during the Company's 1927 Canadian tour.
She later appeared in London at the Duke of York's in The Tales of Hoffman, Hansel and Gretel, Carmen, Tannhauser, and David Garrick (all 1932), and at the Lyceum in Die Fledermaus (1935).
