Muriel Davies (1930-32)
Soprano Muriel Davies joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in March 1930. Between March and June 1930 she appeared regularly as Kate in The Yeomen of the Guard and on occasion as Celia in Iolanthe and Fiametta in The Gondoliers.
In July 1930 she added Celia and Fiametta to her regular duties. During the 1930-31 season she also shared Lady Ella with Rita Mackay and filled in on occasion for Muriel Dickson as Ruth in Ruddigore. Miss Davies began the 1931-32 season as Ella, Celia, Ruth (Ruddigore), Kate (Yeomen), and Fiametta. In February 1932 she added the Plaintiff in Trial by Jury and Chloe in Princess Ida, and swapped Ruth for Zorah in Ruddigore, following the departure of Muriel Barron. Miss Davies also deputized on occasion during the 1931-32 season in the principal soprano roles of Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore and Princess Ida in Princess Ida. She left the D'Oyly Carte in June 1932.
