Mansel Dyer (1935-40)

Baritone Richard Henry Mansel Dyer joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus in April 1935, serving until July 1940. During the 1935-36 season he assumed the small part of Second Yeoman in The Yeomen of the Guard, a part he would play for the balance of his D'Oyly Carte career. In the winter of 1937-1938, and in the spring of 1940, he filled in briefly for Darrell Fancourt as Dick Deadeye in H.M.S. Pinafore, Colonel Calverley in Patience, and Sergeant Meryll in The Yeomen of the Guard.During his final season with the Company (1939-40) he played Sergeant Bouncer in Cox and Box, as well as Second Yeoman, on a regular basis, and played Go-To in The Mikado when Radley Flynn was filling in for Fancourt in the title role.
Dyer was married to fellow D'Oyly Carte artist Aileen Hynes.
