THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
Fanny Hall |
Fanny Hall (1880-81)
Fanny Hall toured with D'Oyly Carte's Fourth American Pirates of Penzance Company from February to June 1880. Initially a chorister, she took over the small part of Isabel in April. She was next engaged by D'Oyly Carte and E. E. Rice to appear as a Charity Girl in Stephens and Solomon's Billee Taylor with their First American Company in New York and Boston (February-June 1881). When the First Company joined with the Second to give a testimonial benefit for Helen Lenoir on May 19, 1881, at New York's Standard Theatre, Miss Hall played Edith in the first act of The Pirates of Penzance.
She returned to the Standard as Lady Ella in Patience with Rice's Comic Opera Company in September 1881, and in 1882 toured with the Boston Comic Opera Company as Edith in Pirates among other roles. Her performing career continued at least until 1890 when she appeared in a benefit concert at New York's Star Theatre.
