Henry Hambleton (1926-27)

Henry Hambleton was a baritone chorister with the D'Oyly Carte Repertory Opera Company from May to December 1926, and with the D'Oyly Carte "New" Opera Company from December 1926 to June 1927. He was married to fellow D'Oyly Carte artist Pauline Wootten.

After leaving the D'Oyly Carte, Hambleton has a lengthy tour as Ali Ben Ali in Desert Song (October 1927 to August 1930). He later had one named part on the London Stage, as Proprietor "Black Bull" in the long-running musical spectacular play White Horse Inn (Coliseum, April 1931-April 1932).

In 1933 he toured South Africa in Desert Song. In 1947 he relocated to Australia. There he enjoyed a varied career in stage, radio, and film including appearing with the J. C. Williamson Company in Brigadoon (1951), and movie and television versions of Long John Silver (1954-57).
