Mezzo-soprano Madeleine Hudson worked in amateur operatics before joining the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus in September 1976. Her first named part was Ada in Princess Ida, in which she substituted on occasion between February and April 1977. She would take over the part in August 1977, but Ida was dropped from the repertoire in August 1978. Between August 1977 and August 1980 she filled in from time to time as Kate in The Pirates of Penzance (1977-79), Lady Saphir in Patience (1977-78), and Pitti-Sing in The Mikado (1979-80). She took her second and last named part, Isabel in The Pirates of Penzance, in September 1980, replacing the departing Suzanne O'Keeffe. Miss Hudson left the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in July 1981.
Madeleine Hudson was known briefly in 1979 by her real name, Caroline Hudson. She is married to fellow D'Oyly Carte artist Bruce Graham.
