E. L. Hughes (1951-54)

Elvet L. Hughes was a chorister with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company for the three seasons spanning September 1951 and July 1954. He made one appearance as First Yeoman in The Yeomen of the Guard in August 1952. During his last two seasons (1952-54) he appeared often for Herbert Newby in the small part of Francesco in The Gondoliers while Newby filled in as Luiz.

As Elvet Hughes, he appeared in London at the Palace Theatre in the comic opera Trevallion (March 1956). He also sang for Covent Garden Opera and English National Opera under that name.
