Harry Hughes was a chorister with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company from January 1950 to August 1953. Originally a baritone, in 1951 he switched to tenor, and for the two seasons spanning September 1951 and August 1953 played the small part of First Citizen in The Yeomen of the Guard.

Hughes was married for a time to D'Oyly Carte chorister May Sanderson.
