Thorpe Sheffield (1894-96)

Tenor Thorpe Sheffield (real name Robert Thorpe Wilson) had at least one London engagement before joining the D'Oyly Carte organization. He appeared at the Royalty as Percy Lovel in the three-act comic opera Peterkin; or, The Landing of the French. It opened on September 4, 1893, and closed after five performances.

Sheffield toured with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D" between 1894 and 1896, taking the part of Picorin in Mirette briefly in February 1895, and appearing as Lord Dramaleigh in Utopia Limited on three separate occasions (February-June and October-December 1895, and October-November 1896).
