William Strachan

William Strachan (1975-79)

[Born Auchinleck, Ayrshire 15 Apr 1952]

Tenor William John Strachan joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus in September 1975, and served with the Company until April 1979. He later performed for twelve years with Scottish Opera, and sang in Camelot for BBC Radio Scotland. On stage he has appeared in many musicals including The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, Evita, Rose Marie, Sweeney Todd, and the Broadway version of The Pirates of Penzance.

Billy now also sings with "Music in Hospitals" as a soloist, accompanied by former D'Oyly Carte Assistant Musical Director David Mackie.
