Baritone Michael John Tuckey performed with four amateur musical societies and the professional Black and White minstrels before joining the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company as a chorister in September 1968.
As understudy to several principal baritone roles, he deputized on occasion as Strephon in Iolanthe (1969-72), Pish-Tush in The Mikado (1969-71), Counsel for the Plaintiff in Trial by Jury (1970-72), and Giuseppe in The Gondoliers (1970-72). He was married for a time to D'Oyly Carte chorister Susan Mosco.
